It is used in dye intermediates, medicine, pesticides, plastics, chemical fibers, leather making, pulp washing and pigments, and can also be used as dehydrating agent and gas desiccant. The pure product is a colorless, odorless, transparent oily liquid with strong acidity. Commercially available industrial sulfuric acid is colorless to slightly yellow or even reddish-brown. Relative density: 98% sulfuric acid is 1.8365 (20°C), and 93% sulfuric acid is 1.8276 (20°C). Melting point 10.35 ℃. Boiling point 338 ℃. It has a strong water absorption capacity, can be mixed with water in different proportions, and emits a lot of heat. It is an inorganic strong acid and is highly corrosive. Chemically active, it can react with almost all metals and their oxides and hydroxides to form sulfates, and can also interact with salts of other inorganic acids. When diluting sulfuric acid, only acid can be injected into water, and water must not be injected into acid, so as to prevent the local overheating of the acid surface and the occurrence of an explosion and acid spray accident. Sulfuric acid with a concentration of less than 76% reacts with metals to release hydrogen.
